Eleanor Butte 1933

Bradford High School Class of 1933

Bradford High School Class of 1933

Eleanor was one of seven children. She grew up on a farm seven miles East and North of Bradford. She graduated from Bradford High School in the Class of 1933. Four girls from the Class of 1933 would become Gypsy Coeds and each would go on two of the the eight trips: Olive Bell, 1935, 1936, Eleanor Butte, 1936, 1937, Ruby McDonald, 1937, 1938, and Margaret Burnett, 1941, 1942. Winnie Swearingen of the Class of 1936 and also a Gyspy Coed remembers “El” this way: “I will always remember El riding her big farm horse to school every day. She would stable it at Newt Hay’s barn and then come to school. At the end of the school day she would ride her horse home. I will always remember that.” One of El’s closest friends would be Harriet Fisher, who went on the 1936 trip along with El.
