Kathleen grew up on a farm southwest of Bradford. She did not go to Bradford High School, but graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria. She was invited to go on the very first trip, in 1934. She married John Lawrence. They are buried at St. Patricks Cemetery, Camp Grove, Illinois
